Jewel Cabernet Sauvignon
An easy going Tuesday night with an easy going meal watching (and I am sad to admit it) a little American Idol. But, with every few notes from the singers came a few good notes from this wine.

I did remember to let this one breathe a bit before I took my first swig. The nose had that deep black currant that most cabs have, but this had a distinct aroma (the bottle calls it a blend with cassis, a fancy Eurasian currant), but there was also a hint of the astringent alcohol smell, but not too harsh. It was a very full bodied flavor tasting primarily of berries. The finish was long. Very long, and it got better with time. The finish was mildly smooth, but about a minute after tasting the wine, a sweet black cherry/berry flavor came to my palette. Overall, an enjoyable wine. Good for a second wine to be served if you are entertaining.
