Australian Shiraz Cabernet Savignon by Wolf Blass Red Label

Wolf BlassOn a recent trip to Vancouver, I collaborated with my VinoForLess co-founder Chris in the tasting and note taking of this enjoyable wine.

The Wine: Red Label Shiraz Cabernet Sauvinon 2002
Winery: Wolf Blass, Australia
Price: $9.49
Where to buy: WineAccess.com

This wine was reviewed at The Cellar Jazz Club, without the best of lighting for note taking and shall we say, a couple of cocktails beforehand. The nose was peppery with a pleasant hint of cinnamon. The taste was unusually good for a blend in this price range with notes of pepper, subtle blackberry, chocolate and coffee. We enjoyed it with hummus and sweet potato fries appetizers, unlikely but delightful food compliments. The rest of my two week old notes say simple, smooth, not complex and somewhat spicy. I highly recommend this wine with good live jazz and good food.
