Indian Creek 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
I continue to reap benefits from my wife’s recent birthday. Sadly, no gift of wine is received in our home without a search for the price. Luckily I have good things to say about this gift.

This gift came all the way from Idaho, in the hands of one Uncle Gary. Californians may pooh-pooh the thought of wine from Idaho, but I have to say that it’s delightful. The nose got me right out of the bottle. White pepper notes, hints of nutmeg and a challenge-to-distinguish mix of berries make the nose the best part of this wine. It’s very fruit forward on the palate, thanks to the berry notes, with a bit of acid on the finish.
OK, we got a little snooty there didn’t we? The acid gives it a slight tartness and the finish is just a fancy pants way of saying, after the swallow. The wife is standing here, swirling her glass and noticing that it really opens up after some breathing time. This wine is a recent release (October 2006), so you may be challenged to find it at retail locations or sites like WineAccess.com. A call to Indian Creek winery or one of the distributors listed on their homepage is probably a great place to start. I could say much more about this wine, however, I think I’ll just end with–try this one!
