Bodega Norton Lo Tengo Malbec

Occasionally on a late Friday night, after having worked until 10 pm, cracking open a bottle of vino is a great way to get some awesome sleep that night for a long Saturday. I just so happen to be flying to Vancouver at 6 am the next morning, so I figured I would really put my theory to the test.

Wine: 2005 Lo Tengo Malbec
Vineyard: Bodega Norton
Country: Argentina
Region: Mendoza
Price: $6.99 at Cost Plus World Market

I can truly appreciate the name of this wine after tasting it. No single fruit flavor was apparent, but like the tango, as I continued to drink, and as the wine got more air, the taste became incredibly smooth. Perhaps a bit of chocolate in the aftertaste. I would put this wine in a category of a good drinking wine. No need to have it with a meal, not that it would bring out any more complexity, but a solid performer. And, for $6.99 it is a no brainer to keep this on hand for a rainy day.
