Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Rosé

Savannah Chanelle Vineyards in Saratoga is a winery that I personally frequent (I know a cute girl that works there). Well known for some noteworthy Pinots, I realized this weekend that they have a wine that fits our favorite price range, relative to vinoforless.com, under $20.

Most of my wine drinking friends give me a hard time for liking this. I think that some of them are ashamed of their wine drinking roots—white zinfandel (in a box). This rosé is somewhat reminiscent of white zin, but it’s got a bit of sophistication about it. It’s safe to say that if you’re a real fan of white zinfandel, you are likely not to like this wine, however. Though it’s described as a delicate wine with hints of red cherries and dried flowers, it’s got what I like to call a little bite to it. The bite is what I like about it. It would definitely go well chilled with chicken, fish or salads. I’ll be trying it with some good food this summer for sure!

I have tried this wine, too. And, I agree that it is a great wine to pair with some juicy fruits such as melon and cantaloupe.
